Taxes and gratitude

Over the last few days leading up to tax Day, I’ve been hearing a lot of people complain about having to write a check to the IRS, about how much they have to pay in taxes, and about how everything just keeps getting more and more expensive.  This seems to be the prevailing “story” and it makes for good conversation around the water cooler and in social situations, because it’s something everybody can agree on, right?

Well, maybe you should rethink how you think and talk about taxes and money in general.  thoughts and words carry energy and send a vibration into the world.  The vibration you send out guides what you attract into your life, so by thinking and talking about money from a place of lack and scarcity, you will only attract more of the same into your life.

Why not change your story and think about money from a place of gratitude?  If you didn’t have to pay taxes, it would mean you’re not making any money.  write that check to the IRS from a place of appreciation!  I know – it’s a leap in consciousness, but shifting how you view money really works.

The following is an excerpt from an Abraham Hicks workshop set to beautiful music and lovely images from nature.  It’s a wonderful explanation of how your money situation can’t change unless you change your vibration.  The music and images enhance the message by reinforcing Abraham’s core teachings of allowing things into your life by being in a state of appreciation.

How numerous Sprollies?

While browsing through my RSS feed I came across another terrific puppy photo from the PuppyParade. I was trying to figure out what breed of puppies these were because they or absolutely adorable. If you go to the flickr stream by clicking the title: The Calm before the storma you can see much more terrific pictures of the litter.
After seeing some of the other images I was thinking some looked an terrible lot like Springer Spaniel, but I also thought mixed with some other breed. Here’s what I found in the tags: Sprollie, Springer Spaniel, and border Collies. I’ve never heard of a Sprollie before, but I guess it’s a mix between a Springer Spaniel and a border Collie. These puppies are lovable Sprollies!
Take a look at this picture and tell me how numerous puppies there are.
How numerous Sprollies Do You See?

The Calm before the storma, originally uploaded by Maa Jong
Did you guess 6? You need to go back to school and work on your math skills!
Did you guess 7? pretty good, but not quite there yet.
Did you guess 8? As far as I can tell 8 is the appropriate number. If you look closely just off to the best side of center of the image you’ll see puppy number 8’s head and if you scan to the top of the screen just below the black and white puppy at the very top you’ll see the end of the puppies butt.

Did you guess 9? A solid possibility because we can definitively say that the head and butt I identified above are conclusively the same puppy. for that reason 9 may also be the appropriate answer.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say there are 8 puppies in the picture above. What do you think? Do you see much more or less than 8 puppies in the picture? have you ever heard of a Sprollie?

Clipp-Aid: What Is It?

By Jeff Andrews
February 7, 2014

Groomers around the world are asking concerns about the new product Clipp-Aid. Does Clipp-Aid bring boring blades back to life? Is it harmless when subjected to humans as well as pets? With all the chemicals groomers use, is Clipp-Aid risk-free to utilize in my salon? The response to all these concerns is “Yes.” In this article, I’ll show you the breadth as well as thoroughness of my testing of Clipp-Aid over the last few months. My final thought is that Clipp-Aid truly is a fantastic new product for groomers!

Several months ago, there was a flurry of comments about Clipp-Aid on Facebook as well as groomer forums. In response, Clipp-Aid contacted me to try out their product in my shop to get a groomer’s point of view on the product. As an organic chemist, blade sharpener, as well as pet groomer for over 30 years, I was astounded by the task this little bag of crystals did at sharpening a blade well sufficient that I might continue grooming much more dogs after utilizing Clipp-Aid on my boring blades. It is something groomers requirement in their set in situation of emergencies.

Clipp-Aid is meant to bring a boring blade back to life once again as well as can be utilized consistently as needed. At some point, I would suggest getting your blades professionally sharpened as well as tuned by your regional sharpener, because utilizing Clipp-Aid is not a substitute for expert sharpening.

One thing I discovered when I got the product is the instructions: “Place the cutting point of the blade into the crystals,” then “move the blade with the crystals for 45 to 60 seconds.” This tells me that you may not utilize the product correctly, as well as you might get discouraged at the results. Don’t be discouraged! Clipp-Aid is now conscious of this, as well as they have revised the directions that now go along with the sale of its products. I fold the bag to make sure the depth of the crystals is adequate to cover the cutter teeth during the sharpening process.

First off, you have to have the appropriate bag for the size blade you are going to sharpen. Thirty years ago, groomers utilized salt to get by with their boring blades. At that time, you had to push the blade into the salt (covering the cutter teeth), let it sharpen up until it appears like the salt is pulverized, as well as then pick it out as well as push it into one more part of the salt. The issue was that it took the whole container of salt to sharpen one blade. As soon as you put the blade into the salt, the salt immediately pulverized. This resulted is a small sharpen before big amounts of salt ended up being useless. That’s why we had to keep putting it in as well as taking it out to get an edge back on the blade so we might do only a few much more dogs. This was extremely tedious as well as far less efficient than utilizing Clipp-Aid.

I believe that Clipp-Aid is a type of concrete that has been crushed as well as sifted down to the appropriate size needed to sharpen boring blades. With Clipp-Aid, you push the blade into the crystals (covering the cutter teeth), yet the crystals are developed not to pulverize so rapidly in contrast to salt. As a result, the boring blades are restored to life in about one to two minutes with a little amount of Clipp-Aid crystals. For me, I was able to sharpen two blades twice utilizing a single bag of Clipp-Aid.

Clipp-Aid is 100% risk-free to utilize in your salons. It is an inert compound that doesn’t react with anything. I mixed it with every liquid in my shop searching for a reaction as well as got nothing. I even put it on a poor scrape that bled when a canine scratched me, as well as it didn’t even shed like numerous medical products would. It was good to see the product was totally risk-free as well as un-reactive.

That’s Clipp-Aid in a nutshell. It is extremely essential to utilize this product properly in purchase to get the very best results. getting the cutter deep sufficient in the crystals as well as bringing it in as well as out of the crystals is the essential to utilizing it properly. It is likewise a great concept to have a canine standing by to ensure that you can test the sharpness of your blade while utilizing Clipp-Aid. inspect out the four easy steps below, which I would suggest to every groomer utilizing Clipp-Aid.

Have a fantastic day grooming, as well as checked out those labels.

Jeff’s directions for utilizing Clipp-Aid

It’s finest to utilize with a canine present so you can test for sharpness as you run your blade in the crystals. If it isn’t sharp on the very first try, run the blade once again in the crystals, as well as then try it on the canine again.

Get the bag of Clipp-Aid as well as suggestion it on its side to make sure all of the crystals are to one side of the bag. You requirement the “depth” of the crystals. now fold the bag in half, turn it best side up, as well as cut the top open.

Puppy In training TV – Ep8 – The Getty museum

This post may consist of affiliate links. We may earn money or products from the companies pointed out in this post.
Every time we drive up to check out the guide Dogs of America campus just past Westwood where the hills begin we always see a tram slowly driving up the hill to the Getty Museum.  Over the past four years I’ve often thought the Getty would be a great place to work on guide pet dog puppy training.  earlier this year we finally took the plunge, packed up our puppy outing bag, and headed out to the Getty museum for a day of fun, art, great views, and puppy training.
Puppy In training TV – Ep8 – The Getty Museum
Here’s this weeks episode of Puppy In training TV.  If you’d like to sponsor an episode take a look at the Puppy In training TV Sponsorship page.

The Getty Museum
As always we like to put a transcription together for those of you who can’t enjoy the video.  So, here’s this weeks transcription of Puppy In training TV!
Shhh…don’t tell Dublin, but we’re going to the Getty museum today.  I’m Colby welcome to episode 8 of Puppy In training TV.
(Titles Roll): Puppy In training TV Starring Dublin. With Linus Aussie mix Rescue. also Colby The Human. and Stetson occupation changed guide Dog. Episode 6 – Los Caballeros Tennis and Puppy Training.
Here’s a great aerial shot of the Getty Museum…On our way to guide Dogs of America we always see the tram driving up to the Getty and everytime I see that Tram I think…”Wow! the Getty would be a great training experience for Dublin”

So today we made a decision to check out the Getty museum and let Dublin taste his first experience of real art.  After we parked the car our first stop was waiting for the aforementioned tram which would take us up the hill.  Riding the tram wasn’t too different then riding on the bus.  And as I expected Dublin had no problem and just kicked back at my feet.
We had to walk up a long flight of stairs to get to the entrance.  We’ve serviced stairs considering that the beginning and Dublin is very good about maintaining his heel.
As you can see the theme for the day was Imagining the past in France.  Although I don’t think Dublin really cared I would have preferred seeing something a little a lot more popular like Van Gogh or Davincci.  There are tons of elevators and stairs to go up and down so we made sure Dublin had a chance to do both.
The Getty Musuem is located on the top of a hill and from the second story you get some spectacular views which we all -including Dublin- had the opportunity to enjoy.  We found this unusual fountain making some interesting noise.  We walked over and I asked Dublin for a firm Sit-Stay and he obliged.

Nearby there was a a pretty cool garden area so I had Dublin do a Down-Stay while I shot video and by the way did I mention there are some great views at the Getty?  Here’s another shot of Dublin working on a down-stay surrounded by some sculptures.  As we pointed out before there are lots of stairs and here’s dublin doing a great heel.
We would have gotten a lot more shots inside the museum, but a lot of the art at the Getty is sensitive to photography so we made sure and asked for authorization to take these shots.  As you can see Dublin is being a good kid with his sits, his downs, and earlier his heels.
We grabbed a late lunch at the restaurant and Dublin was a good kid and laid down quietly under the table.   finally at the end of the day we had the opportunity once again to wait for the tram.  Then ride it back down the hill to our parked car.
Dublin did exceptional at the Getty museum and was well-behaved throughout the day.  He got to see beautiful art, work on walking stairs, elevators, and got to take in some of the amazing views from the Getty Museum.  Thank you for enjoying this episode of Puppy In training TV.  We hope you took pleasure in seeing a little bit of the Getty museum and we’ll see you next time!

Final thoughts On Our check out To The Getty Museum
This was not only Dublin’s first time at the Getty, but mine as well.  The Getty museum was a great outing and not too stressful in any way for Dublin.  We went on a Friday and the museum was not too busy so we didn’t have to worry about navigating through crowds.  Dublin had the opportunity to ride a tram which was very similar to riding the bus, walk up and down long flights of stairs, work on sit and down stays, ride the elevator, take in views from high elevations, and take pleasure in lunch underneath the table (he didn’t get to eat lunch, but we, the humans got to take pleasure in our meal.

A few pointers:
Admission was free, but we had to pay for parking.  The parking attendant told us dogs weren’t allowed, but when I showed him Dublin’s jacket he said “That’s a horse of a different color…come on in!”  actually he just said that Dublin was fine considering thnull

Behind the Scenes: What Goes into the Making of Sleepypod Carriers

This post is sponsored by Sleepypod

I consider Sleepypod carriers the cadillac of cat carriers in terms of design, safety and ease of use. I also think the fact that they’re simply gorgeous is a big plus, as it will allow design-conscious cat guardians to make the Sleepypod a regular part of their living space, which will make life less stressful for cats when it’s time to get into the carrier.

Sleepypod has long been a sponsor of this website, contributing valuable information on how to travel safely with your cat, cat carrier saftey, and more. I thought it would be interesting to take a look behind the scenes of this company, and to learn how the Sleepypod came into being.

It started with a cat

In 2004, Melony Lee was looking for a way to travel with her first kitten, a Bengal named Rawl Rawl. She was disappointed by the existing products on the market. inspired by a commitment to her cat and a passion for design, Melony and fellow Art center college of design graduate Michael Leung focused on researching and developing an ideal carrier prototype for Rawl Rawl.

Michael Leung and Melony Lee
The result was better than expected. Rawl Rawl adapted to the flexible travel environment with ease and enthusiasm. Yet, as enthusiastic as Rawl Rawl was about her new environment, wherever she traveled in it, other pet parents were even more enthusiastic about her stylish carrier.

Rawl Rawl, the inspiration for Sleepypod
This unexpected reaction prompted Michael and Melony to turn the prototype into a commercial product. The partners set out to perfect the design, going through more than a dozen revisions before finally achieving a product that met their high standards for design and functionality.

Have bed, will travel

The design team understood that pets often associated travel with negative experiences like trips to the vet. In their view, a familiar space would make travel less stressful. By 2006, the Sleepypod design incorporated a pet bed, carrier, and car seat functions. The design was ideal for reducing travel anxiety because a pet could travel in the comfort of its everyday bed.

Safety first for furry family members

Every Sleepypod product is created with safety and the pet’s well being in mind. In 2008, the mobile test bed was successfully crash-tested at us child safety seat standards since there were no safety standards for pet safety restraints at the time.

In 2012, Sleepypod crash-tested its carriers at U.S. child safety seat standards using a crash-test pet of the design team’s own design. MAX 1 has since been retired and is housed at the Smithsonian Institution. You can see him in the Smithsonian Institution’s online collection at

Without data, pet safety is just a guess

The Sleepypod team designs and builds its own crash test pets. They are correctly weighted, with sensors and monitors to determine the damaging forces on pets in car crashes. They then use the data collected from these crash test pets to create safer designs. After all, without data, pet safety is just a guess. Sleepypod’s third generation crash test pets are the most advanced crash test pets available.

Crash test cat Cleo
Sleepypod products have not only been tested in the lab, they have been tested in real life accidents.

Most awarded carrier

The Sleepypod mobile pet bed has gone on to become one of the world’s most awarded carriers, with awards ranging from TICA (The international cat Association) to  consumer digest and country Living magazine.

Collaboration with Assisi animal health on a veterinary product

In 2018 Sleepypod collaborated with Assisi animal health to make the Assisi loop Lounge, a non-pharmaceutical veterinary product designed to help promote healing and pain management.

What makes an icon an icon?

The folks at Sleepypod are not exactly sure how they achieved iconic status for their carriers. What they do know is that Sleepypod and its crash test pets have been included in countless and diverse media pieces to include: O magazine, Prevention magazine, consumer Reports, house Beautiful, car and Driver, Wired, wall street Journal, Smithsonian Channel, the BBC program crash test Dummies – A Smashing History, and many more.

It’s Laika’s Gotcha Day, Let’s celebrate With Carrots

Last updated on September 29, 2015 By Puppy Leaks 9 comments
OK so the party is over, the balloons are deflated, there’s some strange man passed out in my living room and the carrots are long gone. I’m sorry if you feel lied to and maybe even a little betrayed. but you can still help us celebrate Laika’s 4th gotcha day — instead of carrots I present to you a collection of my favorite Laika posts. I call it “Whimpers, Nips & Cuddles: Laika’s greatest Hits.”

x

Little Laika on her first day home, she looks so innocent doesn’t she?

It’s hard to think of it was 4 years ago today that I got into that epic battle over a dumb rawhide with my new puppy. things didn’t go well from the start, and she certainly had much more ‘spunk’ than I knew what to do with. I’d tell her to stop biting and she’d bite harder. I’ve never been so covered in scratches in my life. I’d go to feed her and she’d turn into a little demon — hellbent on keeping anybody and everything from going near her food bowl.

It’s been 4 years because I questioned whether I could deal with this little pup on my own, and while it wasn’t easy I’m pleased to say I didn’t give up. I didn’t give up on her, and I didn’t give up hope that I could deal with it myself.

She’s still not perfect, but neither am I. She doesn’t guard her food anymore, and she’s stopped all that biting. Both of us continually learning, and through it all Laika has become my best friend, my one true ‘heart dog.’

Without her I would have never pursued this blog. I wouldn’t have met all of the amazing canine people (that’s you!) I now call good friends. and maybe I wouldn’t have ever found such a fun creative outlet, and for this I’m forever grateful.

While I don’t like cliche’s, and I certainly don’t believe that whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, I do think certain situations can change us for the better. and in this case Laika has made me a much better person. I’m much more perceptive, much more understanding, less judgmental, and certainly much more open to trying new things.

To celebrate 4 years of Laika I thought it would be fun to share my favorite Laika posts.

Just released today! Laika’s greatest Hits Vol I available now, see below for details!!

How Did Laika celebrate Her Gotcha Day?
In the morning we went out to the beach for a good long swim, sadly it’ll probably be one of the last times this season. It’s damn cold out.

For her meals she got lots of yummy carrots, sugar snap peas & rice mixed into her meals. Don’t ask me why but this canine goes crazy for carrots & snap peas.

In the afternoon we went to her favorite state park for a hike. and because it’s a special occasion I got into the mindset of ‘let her do as she pleases’ (within reason of  course), so she rolled around, sniffed, and played in every disgusting thing we found.

For our evening home entertainment we cuddled on the couch and caught up on some Pitbulls & Parolees — which I’m pretty sure is her favorite show considering her constant interest while watching. maybe because she’s a rescue herself she just loves seeing all those adoptions, especially the dogs like herself that could be considered challenging.

I guess that doesn’t discuss the man passed out on my couch though…

A feline who likes camping? Somehow, I’m not shocked that she’s a tortie. She was excited to check out as well as went on her very first hike with Emily when she was four months old. Judging by her Instagram account, Eevee is rather the adventurous cat.
